Business Development Center (BDC) is a support services unit for an organization that develops business-whether in the form of cooperatives, credit unions, etc., which serve the small business community and strengthen the entrepreneurs for developing its business, especially related to management development, business development, and marketing.

Thus, the BDC can help entrepreneurs to solve their business problems, such as limited business skills, lack of investment opportunities for the members, less access to technology, limited access to the information, and so on, so that the entrepreneurs can develop their market whether at local, national, or even internationally.

The goal of BDC is for education. Education for business development is very important because many people who involve in the business often has lack of basic for doing business and many businessmen eventually lost their business and suffered bankruptcy because doesn’t have enough skill for developing business management.

In this context, BDC as a medium of education is very relevant for strengthening the foundations for successful business, either concerning the strengthening of management capacity (planning, management, marketing), business service skills, financial access, and so on. BDC offers a choice of integrated business development services that enable the members and the small entrepreneur can achieve success in business.

That business development services itself include amongst other: First, strengthening training for the small entrepreneurs to manage the business. Second, technical services, which include product development and cover design consultation. Third, business consultation that covers all areas of business management such as business planning, financial management, production operations management, marketing management and organizational development.
